PTC Training Opportunities
We provide half and full-day courses, web-based training and grand rounds/one hour presentations for medical providers. Our trainings are held generally once a year in each of the states/territories within our region - New York, New Jersey, Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Continuing education credits are available at most trainings.

Webinar - Mandated Third Trimester Syphilis Screening Among Pregnant Persons in New York City (NYC): A Response to Increases in Congenital Syphilis in NYC
The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and New York City STD Prevention Training Center are offering a free, one-hour webinar on congenital syphilis in NYC to provide information on the recent changes to the NYC Health Code requiring third trimester screening. Each webinar will: provide background information on syphilis in pregnancy and the changing epidemiology of congenital syphilis in New York City, and review recent changes to the New York City Health Code requiring third trimester syphilis screening among pregnant persons between 28-32 weeks gestation. There will also be an opportunity to address providers’ questions.
Target Audience: Clinical providers in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, Neonatology, Adolescent Medicine, Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Urgent Care, Infectious Diseases, Emergency Medicine.
Presenter: Susan Blank, MD MPH, CAPT US Public Health Service, Assistant Commissioner, NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, Bureau of Sexually Transmitted Infections. Dr. Susan Blank is a medical epidemiologist with the Division of STD Prevention at the US Centers for Disease Control, and, since 1992, has been assigned to the Bureau of Sexually Transmitted Infections (BSTI) within the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH). Dr. Blank has served as Assistant Commissioner for DOHMH BSTI since 2000.

Adolescent Sexual Health Symposium

We are very disappointed to have to do this but are hoping to offer this shortly in the next few weeks as a web-based conference. We will update this page with information as soon as possible. Target Audience: This free symposium is designed for providers such as physicians, physician assistants, nurses and nurse practitioners who provide direct clinical care to adolescent patients. Non-clinical providers such as health educators, social workers, administrators, etc. will be placed on a waitlist and accepted first come first serve based on space.
Topics will include The Adolescent Brain: Considerations for the Clinician; The State of Sexual Health and Adolescents in NYC - Epidemiology, EPT and Congenital Syphilis Update; PrEP and Adolescents; Stigma and Mental Health; and STD Clinical Cases. A final agenda will be shared with approved registrants.
